My two older children have some features of autism but are functional. I have a daughter, Hekka, who functions below what would be expected for her age who has PDD. And my toddler, Cedar, is in the process of being evaluated. They have mild autism spectrum, so they relate somewhat socially and show affection. But I've had to adjust my hopes and dreams for what they are likely to do in this life (just the rough picture like going to college or living away from home when they grow up.) Cedar may yet prove to be a late talker.
